1. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in, we may receive account identifiers and profile information such as your name, email address, username, profile image and authentication session details.
Content and community activity
We process information you choose to create or share, including posts, comments, replies, profile information, room messages, direct messages, reports, reactions, custom lists, reviews and uploaded media.
Anime tracker information
We store tracker statuses, episode progress, scores, favourites, tags, reminders, watch history and related preferences so the app can provide tracking and recommendation features.
Device and technical information
We may process device type, app version, push-notification tokens, network and diagnostic information, security events and basic usage data needed to operate and protect the service.
AI interactions
Messages sent to AI features may be processed by an AI service provider to generate responses. Do not send passwords, payment information or highly sensitive personal information to AI companions or battle tools.
2. How we use information
- Provide account, tracker, community, messaging, notification and AI features.
- Personalise app content and recommendations.
- Detect spam, abuse, security incidents and policy violations.
- Respond to support, copyright and safety requests.
- Improve reliability, performance and user experience.
- Meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Guidelines.
3. Service providers
We may use service providers for hosting, databases, authentication, media delivery, notifications, analytics, AI processing and customer support. They receive only the information reasonably needed to perform their services and are subject to their own terms and privacy practices.
4. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell personal information to advertisers. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, to investigate abuse, or as part of a legitimate business transfer with appropriate safeguards.
5. Public and private content
Profile details, posts, comments, public lists and public room activity may be visible to other users. Direct messages and private content are not intended to be public, but may be reviewed when necessary to investigate a valid safety or legal report, subject to applicable law.
6. Data retention
We retain information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Some records may be retained for limited periods after deletion for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution or enforcement. Removed public content may remain in backups until those backups rotate.
7. Your controls
Inside OtakuVerse, you can edit your profile, manage notification and chat privacy preferences, block users, download your data and delete your account. Account deletion is available through Profile → Settings → Delete my account.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so users should protect their devices and account access.
9. Children
OtakuVerse is not intended for children under 13. We take child-safety reports seriously and may remove content, restrict accounts and cooperate with appropriate authorities when required.
10. International processing
Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use reasonable safeguards for international processing.
11. Changes
We may update this policy as the service changes. Material updates will be reflected by the date above and may also be communicated in the app.
